Michael Niarchos

Michael "Nick" Niarchos

Michael C. Niarchos is a graduate of Miami University of Ohio and the University of Chicago Law School. After graduation from law school Mr. Niarchos was engaged in the practice of general commercial and real estate law in Chicago, Illinois.

In 1981 he was recruited by Summa Corporation and The Hughes Corporation in Las Vegas, Nevada (the “Companies”). Mr. Niarchos was employed by the Companies from 1981 through 1998 and served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel.

At the Mr. Niarchos was a key player in the transition of the assets and businesses owned by Howard Hughes from an aviation and gaming company into a multi-faceted real estate development, operating and investment company. These activities included not only the resolution of a multitude of issues related to the Estate of Howard Hughes but the disposition of the aviation and gaming properties, including Hughes Helicopters, the Desert Inn and the Frontier.

Mr. Niarchos played a primary role in the transition of large land holdings owned by the Companies into a large regional real estate development operation. These projects include Howard Hughes Center and Playa Vista in Los Angeles, The Fashion Show in Las Vegas, Hughes Center and Hughes Airport Center in Las Vegas, Nevada and Summerlin in Las Vegas, Nevada. Summerlin is a master planned community consisting of more than 25,000 acres and has consistently been not only the top selling master planned community in the country but has won numerous awards for its planning and quality of development.

His experience in the realm of finance, corporate governance, and real estate development is broad and at the highest levels of complexity. In addition, he acted as advisor to the Boards of Directors of the Companies and served on a three person Finance Committee overseeing operations of the Companies which committee included the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer.

In 1996 Mr. Niarchos supervised the merger of the Companies into the Rouse Corporation. This transaction culminated a multi-year effort to create liquidity for the heirs of Howard Hughes. In 1998 and after the final transition of the Companies into a publicly owned Rouse corporation, he left the Companies.

Since 1998, He has been active in many areas, including the private practice of law. He is of counsel to the law firm of Rosenfeld & Rinato. His practice is focused on commercial matters, including finance and real estate. Mr. Niarchos specializes in complicated multi-party transactions. His representative clients include the City of Las Vegas, Clark County Regional Transportation Commission, Las Vegas Monorail Company, Newland Development Company, Global Trust Ventures, University of Nevada Las Vegas, Strategic Solutions, Sierra Development, Christopher Commercial, and Cheetah Wireless. Mike is currently serving as special outside counsel to the City of Las Vegas, Nevada.

As a Co-Founder of 220 Group, LLC Mr. Niarchos has been involved at the highest level in the planning and execution of the company’s strategic growth plan. Mr. Niarchos has served on 220 Marketing’s Board of Directors since its inception in 2006. He is primarily responsible for advising the company on all legal/contractual matters. He is also heavily involved in the financial planning and large ticket asset acquisitions decisions for 220. Mr. Niarchos’ role in the company will continue to expand as the company grows.

Mr. Niarchos is committed to philanthropic work throughout the State of Nevada. Mr. Niarchos served on the Board of Directors of the Las Vegas Art Museum, Nevada Dance Theater and Southern Nevada Home Builders Association. He currently is on the Board of Directors of The Special Olympics of Nevada.

Outside of the office, He enjoys golfing, skiing and hiking. Mr. Niarchos is also an accomplished world traveler. Nick has plans to continue exploring new and exciting destinations around the world.
